Born and bred in the United Arab Emirates - at Hybrid Hippie, we are on a mission to empower and enable a sustainable-yet-stylish lifestyle for all. All of our products are designed in Dubai and crafted around the world. Sustainable living at Hybrid Hippie does not end at just being good to mother earth – but, being and doing the best we can to ourselves as humans.
Our goal is to reconnect the consumers, source and planet, while we collaboratively work towards a better and greener tomorrow. While we are at it, we are committed to plant trees together across the world - and have pledged to dedicate 4% of our total turnover (not profit - we mean total sales revenue) towards the cause
WHY SHOULD I CARE?
Here are some facts around the environmental impact caused by plastic disposal.
- Conventional plastic is estimated to take anywhere between 450-1,000 years to decompose; an average of only 9% of plastic is recycled, while the 91% is either sent to landfills or incinerated.
- Plastic debris alone is estimated to kill approximately 1,000,000+ sea birds and over 100,000 marine mammals each year.
- Globally, it is estimated that over 5 trillion (5,000,000,000,000+) single-use plastic bags are used every year – and, by the time you have read until here, there were approximately 2,061,000+ plastic bags that have been used – yep, you read that right.
- The bioplastic bags you usually see around lately aren’t really always bio-degradable. They surely are compostable – but, they only decompose under certain compost conditions, which are usually only found in industrial composts.
